How to Export Your Instagram Chats (Step-by-Step)

  1. Open Accounts Center: In the Instagram app, go to your Profile > Menu (≡) > Accounts Center.
  2. Download Your Information: Select Your information and permissions > Download your information > Download or transfer information.
  3. Choose Messages: Tap Some of your information and check Messages.
  4. Format as JSON: Select Download to device. Set Date range to All time, Format to JSON, and Media quality to Low.
  5. Drop into Stats Insta: When Meta emails your ZIP file, download it, locate message_1.json in the messages/inbox folder, and drop it into Stats Insta Analyzer.
